"Fish"

"Fish" is a deconstructed scene made of glass where the base recedes to allow an ocean view to unfold as if flying over the deep ocean and thus revealed is the prismatic fish, lustrous shells and sharp coral hidden amongst the water. Last year, I was gifted a very special authentic piece of blue glass from the original Surfing Madonna mosaic located in Encinitas. I was encouraged to use the piece in a future project and have made it my inspiration for the blue trim and it makes the perfect center for the eye of "Fish". In addition, I have used a variety of COE 96 glass including powdered and coarse frit, dichroic and transparent glass that I hand cut, molded, tac fused and full fused. The shells were originally part of my childhood collection of shells I acquired from growing up in Solana Beach, CA.
